AIWA Activities August 2012

By Roy Cook

In Chula Vista the American Indian Warriors Association was invited to be the Color Guard for the first annual pow wow on August 11& 12, 2012. We formed a fine line of flags and the uniform of the day was the new AIWA patch on the ‘loaner’ vests finished by AIWA Treasurer Joaquin Sandoval. Just like when we were in the military service we had each other’s back as we brought in the colors for the two day grand entry of the pow wow.

Mr. Randy Edmond is once again asked to be the Emcee for this event. He stands in strong support of the Soaring Eagles as their senior advisor. His many years of experience grant him a carrier of the protocols of the Southern California Pow Wows. His skill as Master of Ceremony brings a combination of wisdom, knowledge as well as humor.

The invited pow wow honored staff made their acknowledged Give-Away in appreciation of their responsible roles as individuals in the community and pow wow life. Our tribal tradition of generosity is a part of a lineage of hospitality protocols of many tribes.
