April 7, 2010 AIWA Meeting report.
By Joaquin Sandoval

AIWA meeting started at 7:10

Ivan had a young sailor do the prayer.

Pres. report: thanked all who have represented AIWA at the past events and then he informed us of Kelly from the paralyzed veterans organization had requested we do color guard for their bike run fundraiser.

Our commitment to the Grossmont Pow wow was in conflict with our commitment to the Bayside community center so we, as an organization must do the parade in the morning then leave to Grossmont right after.

Ivan had made new AIWA membership cards for those who paid their dues.

V.P. Carl reported on his request to have a welcome home Vietnam vets. day like they did in other cities.

A catalog book on flags and display poles.

Sec. not present

Tres. /event coordinator mentioned Ms. Peppi`s request of providing the V.A.with our tribal affiliations for her office use it was agreed to give the info. of those present.

The funds for the last event to be deposited as soon as we receive them.

William agreed to get the address of the color guard event for us.

Maa.not present

Ms. Peppi stated we were invited along with other Native American veterans to the town hall meeting Tues. 6: 30 PM to speak about Native American veterans concerns about their V.A. benefits.

A young female Marine said she would like to bring more marines to our organization but she had concerns about gourd dancers being children.

We explained other organizations allow non veterans to do so we are primarily a veterans org. and have only the ok to do so by the gourd society members of our org.

She also requested info. on a female role at a gourd dance.

She is a friend of Frank and Jennifer Gastelum
