August 4, 2010 AIWA Meeting report.
By Roy Cook, AIWA Historian

Warriors:

Chairing the meeting is AIWA VP Carl Limping Bear Johnson. Attending officers are: Joaquin Sandoval, AIWA Tres. Event Coordinator and Roy Cook, AIWA Historian. With visitors and other members, this was a productive and happy meeting. Over a dozen were able to hear from visitors from the Dream weavers Consortium. The EDD California Operation Welcome guests described their referral capabilities and eagerness to meet and serve Tribal Veterans.

Another visitor is Paul Broderick from the Boarder Patrol office. He is their Tribal Liaison Agent for the San Diego sector. He is often seen at local pow wow events and cultural gatherings that are open to the public. He gifted the AIWA organization with DVDs of recent American Indian events.

Pressing financial issues and organizational challenges were tabled due to non-attendance of the ‘other’ parties. What was seen, as a priority issue is our lukewarm participation in local activities in the community. We need to be out there and do better to improve the AIWA image. Summer and fall American Indian events were announced and the membership was reminded of the service 7/24 offered by the americanindiansource.com calendar.

Finally, it is always a special time to be in the company of our brother in arms and it is a good meeting when people are laughing and smiling as they go out the door.

Respectfully reported by, Roy Cook, AIWA Historian.

VP statement: OK, AIWA Warriors, if anyone knows where we could go from here. We need to get together and see if we can come up with a place and day that works for everyone.

Thanks:

AIWA VP Carl Limping Bear Johnson
