BRING YOUR
AUGUST COPY OF MINUTES TO THE SEPTEMBER MEETING American
Indian Warrior Association August 7, 2013
This evening AIWA President William Buchanan opened the meeting at 7:15 with a prayer. Lots of pizza and talk about the upcoming Chula Vista pow wow. Summer time is pow wow time and the AIWA Warriors continue to participate in a self motivated project to improve the Gourd dance participation and Color Guard presence.
Old business: The Bayside meeting location is stable and we may utilize more aspects of the service possibilities; postal mail drop, exclusive meeting location on the master schedule, umbrella 501c3 participation. Also continued and new craft activities into the fall months (Instructions were distributed). Our promotion past posting in Indian Voices fee was paid. Pizza and cookies continues to be addressed with enthusiasm.
New business: Sept. 7 following our next AIWA monthly meeting (on Sept. 4) we will hold at 10am a craft activity and spirituality gathering in a public park location TBA. (Lake Murray, Tecolote canyon or other location.) Also the possibility of AIWA hosting a youth pow wow in the fall or spring was advanced. Public activity AIWA recruitment and community information table presentation needs to be organized and put into action.
AIWA Round Robin: Myykal Billie asked for support for his Head Gourd dancer responsibility this weekend. Ozzie M reported on the Council and his flute presentation at the Soaring Eagles. Larry S shared his visit back home this summer. Juan d R. was eager to enter the craft activities and validated our status at Bayside. William B reported on his Mr. Green jeans summer garden crop. Joaquin S had nothing to say. Chuckle, chuckle.
AIWA closed the meeting at 8:55pm.
Finally, AIWA welcomes our local and Tribal involvements and our mission to continue to be of service to the community and look forward to positive ideas for our future months meetings. Respectfully
