MAY COPY OF MINUTES TO JULY MEETING AIWA MONTHLY MINUTES June 1, 2011 AIWA IS THE INVITED Honor Guard for the Soaring Eagle Pow wow June 4, 11 at 2pm Gourd dance at 1pm. Also, evening Grand entry and gourd dance about 7pm or so.
American Indian Warriors Association Meeting called to order at 7pm by AIWA President William Buchannan: This session is in Executive committee business format. Ms Barbra Pepi, VA minority liaison attended with gifts.
Past member/visitor Ruben Chato Hinojosa Jr. US Navy Desert Storm veteran, SAG came in with questions about the AIWA organization and news about the movie business. Additionally he said his aunt is the enrollment officer of the LIPAN Apache tribe in Texas. There was lots of good chat about veteran and personal issues.
Officer reports: AIWA President William Buchannan presented the finished business cards for the officers and combined officer format for recruitment of new members. He also reported on Two WWII vets he met in Palm Springs: Dale Running Deer Culbertson, USMC and George Edwards US Army Buffalo soldier.
AIWA Historian Roy Cook reported on the latest United Veterans Council meeting and distributed materials from the meeting.
Old business: 1. Soaring Eagle Pow wow June 4, 2011 (one day). Gourd dance. 2. Viejas Education graduation Honor Guard invitation, 1pm, June 27, 11 at the Tribal recreation center. 3. AIWA vest patch design approved with corrections. 4. San Diego military veterans activities: Stand Down, Veterans parade. 5. AIWA Honor Color Guard at Imperial Beach Pow wow June 18-19, 2011.
