American Indian Warrior Association
MONTHLY MINUTES
June 12, 2013

This evening AIWA President William Buchanan announced our responsibility as the Honor Color Guard this next weekend. Then, along with VP Lawrence Strickland, Ozzie Monge, Roy Cook and Joaquin Sandoval enthusiastically participated in a regalia craft workshop. This activity is particularly timely following the San Luis Rey pow wow.

Additionally noted, William Buchanan is invited to be the Head Gourd Dancer at the Imperial Beach Pow wow by the sea on Father’s Day weekend. Our project this evening is constructing a set of ‘loaner’ bandoliers for more individuals to participate in the gourd dance experience. All they need is to show up with dark pants and a white long sleeved shirt and we will try to outfit them with gear.

The business of the American Indian Warriors Association was briefly touched upon. We paid a few bills and the main attention returned to the gourd dance bandolier project.

This activity was well received and reportedly enjoyed by all attending the June AIWA monthly meeting.

AIWA welcomes our involvements to be of service to the community and all look forward to positive ideas for next months’ meeting on July 3, 2013. After the final police call clean up of the area the AIWA meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.

Respectfully submitted:
Roy Cook, AIWA Historian/secretary
