November 4, 2009 AIWA Meeting minutes

6: 30- 7:15pm informal pot luck and conversation mixer.

AIWA Secretary Richard Decrane took charge and chaired the meeting. He distributed nomination forms and began the AIWA officer report process.

AIWA Sgt. At Arms Joaquin Sandoval reported on the Massing of the colors and the upcoming 11/12/09 SDSU Scripps Cottage 5pm Honor Guard event.

AIWA Event Coordinator Ronnie Murphy reported on the Massing of the Colors with the Vietnam Veterans and AIWA members. He also stated he will release the appointment of event coordinator this year.

Nominations opened and submitted to AIWA Secretary Richard Decrane.

Guests: Barbara Pepi, VA Minority Veterans Program Coordinator did a second site visit to the AIWA organization and distributed her card, pens and relevant information regarding Veterans rights.

AIWA President Ivan Sam arrives and assumes the chair at 7:40pm. In his report, he added to the Balboa Park Massing of the colors and the 11/11/09 Veterans Day Memorial tribute at Santa Ysabel. Stan Rodriguez will provide more information in the very near future.

Guest, Celia Flores asked everyone to identify him or her with a roll call.

Richard Decrane read a short description of the AIWA organization and the main goals of the bylaws.

Ronnie Murphy repeated his request for reimbursement of expenses incurred at a past Camp Pendleton event.

Ivan Sam elaborated on the IHRC request for funds toward the Veterans Tribute to be held on Tuesday 11/10/09 at the Soaring Eagles Dance class location in Old Town. The request died for lack of clarification. Additionally discussion led to the previous request by Karen Giron for assistance of the kids in the SCTC program. The grant funding was late from Sacramento. AIWA member William Buchanan contributed $200 in personal funds to help the kids.

Additionally, Joaquin and Ivan are still working to clarify the IRS issues from 2004, 05 and 06. We need to secure the petty cash box and complete the signatory requirements on the new Bank account.

Karen Giron will present a tribute to the Mount Solidad memorial plaque for Chet Hunt at the November 10, 09 Veterans Tribute in Old Town at the Soaring Eagle Ballard Parent Center.

Round Robin cancelled due to earlier Roll call.

Motion to adjourn: 8:25pm by Carl Limping Bear- seconded by William Buchanan.

By Roy Cook: AIWA Historian
