SDAIW Meeting Muster: September 2, 2009

American Indian Warriors Association meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm.

September AIWA Meeting reflections under a full moon over Linda Vista.
By Roy Cook

AIWA officers and old members were glad to meet four or more veterans to be new members. Ronnie Murphy has been attending their meeting and, as I understand it, he recruited them from that other organization. I have it on good authority that AIWA member Stan Rodriguez took an active part this meeting in the upcoming opportunities to be a part of our Indian community.

There was a good selection of potluck selections but we were weak in the paper goods and serving stuff department. If we cannot acquire a storage area, we may have to box it in each meeting. We can use some more support and advice from our elected AIWA Treasurer on this and some other loose ends that may make participation at events easier.
Most of the discussion was over the local pow wows this month. No color guard requests but a good opportunity to sharpen up and look good at the gourd dance. Dance until you drop!

Chet Hunt’s son John lives in Arizona and some feel he needs to be informed of the upcoming tribute on Mount Solidad. Leadership will keep us informed and moving toward this long-standing goal to recognize and Honor one of the charter members of the AMERICAN INDIAN WARRIORS ASSOCIATION.

Annual AIWA elections will be coming up in a couple of months. We all know Ivan ca use some help keeping everything going when he is called away with other reasonable obligations.

We all need to communicate better and present our public image in the best light possible. Yeah, that is why often I’m not around. I do get grouchy and I know it…no denial in my back yard.

Well, moonbeam buddies, I think I’ll go outside and howl at the full moon coming over the mountain, oooooowwww.
